Hello everybody, I am pretty new at this site and I am looking for some good shows from '79 or '80. Since those shows were before I was of concert age I really have no reference point. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks and hang loose.

See if the 10/19 post from Dhamma1 is on the next page- very extensive year by year. Or, if you find another post by him, click on the name and his posts will show up. Go from there.

Yeah, I saw that post by Dhamma1 and I immediately bookmarked it. There isn't much from 79 or 80 on the post, but there is a ton of other grate stuff. I was really wondering why there wasn't many things listed for those years. Thank you for the help, I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I just looked at the posts and it does seem a bit light. If you have the time and desire, sort the Dead shows on the site here by date, then scroll thru 79 and 80 looking for shows with lots of views and reviews. There should be a half dozen or so from each year that stand out from the others using that process. And while there may be a great aud recording available here, you'll have a list of show to look for at gdlive, bt.etree, shnflac.net or ask for trades/copies here.

1/10/79, 9/2/80 and 11/29/80 -- there are sweet downloadable AUD recordings here at the LMA (I'd link... but...it's...very...slow...at...the...moment...)

I'll throw in the 11/1/79 Nassau show, only sbd here, but the Scarlet/Fire is one of my all time faves, very long and sweet transition jam with Brent experimenting with some almost disco-like sounds. It's odd, but somehow works. The Fall '79 run has some real gems with the band putting out some outstanding energy throughout.

Since you can easily 'test stream' here, check out the last spring East coast run with the Godchauxs (or at times just Kieth). I listened to them just recently not expecting much, but there are some high moments. The band lost something with the end of the Godchaux era they never regained so check out the final tour, especially 1/10/79 as mentioned.
